Azalea Growth Environment Established and Winter Preparation Completed
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) has created the ‘Jindallae Hill’ around Manghyangjeong at Jwagwangcheon (Dalsan-ri, Jeonggwan-eup).
This project involved planting about 7,000 jindallae azalea bushes, the county flower of Gijang-gun, to comfort the homesick feelings of former Jeonggwan residents who lost their hometown due to the Jeonggwan district housing development project, and to instill pride in Gijang residents among the newly incoming population from the new town development.
With the creation of Jindallae Hill, residents of Jeonggwan New Town will be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of blooming azaleas in the adjacent green space next spring.
Additionally, the county recently deployed about 70 people, including staff and workers from the Forest Park, to spread bark mulch made of wood on the soil to prevent cold damage to the azaleas and to prepare Jindallae Hill for winter. They will also continuously work on maintenance such as weed removal and watering throughout the year to create a healthy growing environment for the azaleas.
Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “When the azaleas bloom next spring, Manghyangjeong at Jwagwangcheon will serve as a resting place where local residents and tourists can reminisce about old memories and heal from their tiring daily lives.”
