Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, sharply criticized the discussions about impeaching President Yoon Seok-yeol within the People Power Party on the 6th, saying, "We are once again heading towards the abyss."

On the same day, Mayor Hong stated on his Facebook, "Eight years ago, during the impeachment of Park Geun-hye, while serving as the governor of Gyeongnam Province, I persuaded our party's lawmakers that impeachment was not acceptable. However, opposition collusion forces including Yoo Seung-min agreed to the impeachment, left the party, and joined the Bareun Party."

He pointed out, "Korea's conservative camp barely survived the impeachment presidential election after being on the brink of collapse, but subsequently suffered consecutive defeats in the presidential, local, and general elections, being labeled as a corrupt faction and reduced to a minority party." He continued, "Before the last presidential election, the current mercenary who had been at the forefront of purging corruption was recruited to compete in the primaries. I pointed this out and tried to persuade party members and the public, but due to the party members' wrong judgment, I gave up the candidacy."

Mayor Hong said, "After many twists and turns, we narrowly regained power, but the party once again recruited a mercenary, and this time, the mercenaries are fighting for hegemony, facing the impeachment situation from eight years ago once again." He likened President Yoon and Representative Han to mercenaries. Mayor Hong criticized, "I warned two months ago that we were heading towards the eve of Park Geun-hye's impeachment, but the party and the country are once again heading towards the abyss without understanding this. It is a lamentable matter." He added, "If that's the case, just dissolve the party. With such a level of awareness, you are not qualified to run Korea's conservative party."
