The Presidential Office denied on the 6th reports that President Yoon Seok-yeol would visit the National Assembly that day.
A senior official from the Presidential Office stated, "The President has no schedule to visit the National Assembly today."
There were rumors circulating through some media outlets that President Yoon would visit the National Assembly and attend the ruling party's members' meeting.
Opposition party lawmakers and their aides gathered at the main entrance to block President Yoon's entry into the National Assembly, shouting slogans such as "Yoon Seok-yeol, step down."
In response, Speaker Woo Won-shik issued an emergency statement saying, "The situation has been very chaotic since the emergency martial law was lifted," and added, "There have been successive speculative reports about the President's visit to the National Assembly, but we have not received any notification regarding President Yoon's visit."
He continued, "However, even if he visits, security-related consultations must come first," and said, "Without prior consultation on the purpose of the visit and security, it is difficult to guarantee President Yoon's safety, so if the President has plans to visit, we request that he postpone them."
It was reported that President Yoon met with Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, at the Hannam-dong official residence that afternoon.
