Students from the Department of Robotics Engineering at Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) announced on the 6th that they received the Best Paper Award from the Korea Institute of Communications and Information Sciences.
At the Korea Institute of Communications and Information Sciences Fall Comprehensive Academic Conference held from November 20 to 22 at Lahan Select Gyeongju, undergraduate students Park Young-ho and Lim Hyo-jin (4th year), and master's student Woo Yong-taek co-authored a paper titled "Chain Method Based on Li-Fi Utilizing and Extending Car Lamps in Tunnels: Preventing Chain Collisions and Sudden Stops through Speed and Acceleration Data Transmission," which was selected as the best paper among 117 undergraduate papers.

This study proposes a technology that uses car lamps in tunnels and Li-Fi technology to prevent chain collisions and sudden stops, drawing attention for its innovative approach to traffic accident prevention.
Despite being undergraduates, Park Young-ho and Lim Hyo-jin have focused on research in "wireless optical communication," continuously demonstrating outstanding research achievements. Notably, they have contributed as first authors to papers published in internationally renowned journals such as IEEE Wireless Communications Letters (Q1, IF 4.6) and ICT Express (Q1, IF 4.1).
Professor Song Yoo-jae, who supervised the students, expressed, "I am very pleased that our students' creative and practical research results were recognized at this academic conference," adding, "We will continue to pursue innovative research that positively impacts society together with our students."
