The prosecution will conduct a joint investigation by dispatching military prosecutors and other military prosecution personnel regarding the emergency martial law incident involving President Yoon Seok-yeol.
On the 6th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced, "We have decided to conduct a joint investigation with cooperation by dispatching military prosecutors and other military prosecution personnel to the Special Investigation Headquarters." This measure is interpreted as an effort to enhance the expertise of the investigation, considering the large number of military forces deployed during the emergency martial law and the fact that many of the individuals involved are active high-ranking military officers.
On the same day, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced the formation of the Special Investigation Headquarters, headed by Park Se-hyun, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office. Kim Jong-woo, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, was assigned as the Deputy Chief Prosecutor. Under them, Lee Chan-gyu, Head of the Public Investigation Division 1, and Choi Soon-ho, Head of the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, each lead one team.
The total number of personnel for the Special Investigation Headquarters has not yet been determined.
