The personal information of Kim Myung-hyun (43), who killed a man he did not know and fled after stealing cash, has been disclosed.
On the 6th, the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office posted Kim Myung-hyun's name, age, and photo on the Seosan Branch website. The disclosure period is until the 3rd of next month. The prosecutors held a personal information disclosure review committee on the 28th of last month and decided to disclose the information considering the brutality of the crime, the seriousness of the damage, public interest, and the victim's family’s request for disclosure.
Earlier, on the 8th of last month around 9:40 p.m., Kim Myung-hyun broke into the back seat of a passenger car parked near a restaurant parking lot in Dongmun-dong, Seosan-si, Chungnam Province. He is accused of killing a man in his 40s, whom he did not know and who was waiting for a designated driver, with a weapon and stealing 120,000 won in cash. Kim Myung-hyun is also accused of fleeing in the car, abandoning the victim’s body, and setting the car on fire. During police investigation, he reportedly stated that he committed the crime due to financial hardship caused by debts including gambling debts amounting to hundreds of millions of won.
Investigations revealed that Kim Myung-hyun had prepared the weapon in advance and selected his targets, such as drivers of high-end passenger cars. It is also known that immediately after the crime, he used the stolen money to buy a meal and purchased lottery tickets worth about 60,000 won.
