Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) will start sending various delinquency-related notices as KakaoTalk mobile electronic documents, beginning with the wage garnishment notice from the 9th.
The KakaoTalk electronic notification service operates by matching the encrypted resident registration number linkage information (CI) of taxpayers with the KakaoTalk membership linkage information to send alert messages.
Taxpayers whose registered address differs from their actual residence, foreign nationals residing in Korea, and Korean nationals residing abroad will also be able to check their delinquency status and make immediate payments through KakaoTalk.
Additionally, this will reduce the annual costs of producing and mailing paper notices by 63%. Furthermore, it will save environmental resources equivalent to 1,000 tons of water, 288 kg of carbon emission rights, and 12 30-year-old timber trees annually, contributing to carbon neutrality efforts.
Kim Su-jeong, head of the Collection Division, stated, “Through the delinquency notification service via mobile, we will enhance taxpayer convenience and local tax delinquency collection rates, reduce the city’s administrative effort and budget, and improve work efficiency. We will continue to expand tax administration that resonates with taxpayers.”
