Dangjin City Selected as an 'Outstanding Institution' for Suicide Prevention Project for Two Consecutive Years

Achievements in Psychological Support for Industrial Workers and Suicide Prevention Programs for Single-Person Households

On the 5th, Dangjin City in Chungnam was once again selected as an excellent institution in the '2024 Regional Suicide Prevention Project' evaluation, organized by Chungcheongnam-do, receiving a reward of 1 million KRW for the second consecutive year.


Each year, Chungcheongnam-do evaluates 15 cities and counties on the overall performance of suicide prevention projects, including △registration and management of high-risk groups △performance in suicide prevention initiatives △specialized projects unique to each city or county.


Dangjin City received high marks for △training 9,160 life guardians △providing psychological support to 1,187 workers at 18 industrial sites △conducting suicide prevention campaigns in cooperation with 127 multi-use facilities for single-person households, such as real estate agencies and convenience stores.


In addition, two staff members from the Dangjin City Health Center received individual commendations for their contributions to suicide prevention projects, and the Dangjin District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society was also awarded an institutional commendation.


Park Jongkyu, head of the Dangjin City Health Center, stated, "Dangjin City's selection as an excellent institution for two consecutive years is an achievement made possible by the entire local community, including the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society," and added, "We will continue to do our best to build a robust suicide prevention safety net to care for the hearts of our citizens."
