Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 6th that as part of efforts to reduce the use of disposable products, which is one of the practical measures for carbon neutrality in daily life, it supported the use of more than 15,000 reusable containers at agricultural product festivals hosted by Paju City this year.

In October, at the 19th Paju Kaesong Ginseng Festival and in November, at the 28th Paju Jangdan Bean Festival, the city provided reusable containers free of charge at food stalls on site and installed collection bins for reusable containers at the festival venues, carrying out various efforts to promote the use of reusable containers instead of disposable ones.
According to the city, the reusable containers provided at the two agricultural product festivals included about 5,000 pasta bowl containers, 6,000 forks, 2,300 reusable trays, and 2,300 spoons and chopsticks, totaling approximately 15,000 items.
Accordingly, on the day of the festivals, food was served in reusable containers upon order, and visitors could return the containers to collection bins installed on site after eating. A specialized company then collected, washed, and redistributed the containers to food vendors, naturally operating a 'reusable container circulation system.'
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “It is true that using disposable containers is convenient for both sellers and consumers, but it is time for change to protect the environment,” adding, “We will continue to actively work on reducing disposable products in response to environmental issues.”
