The Eastern Health Lifestyle Support Center, which opened on September 30 this year in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, is emerging as a hub for promoting the health of people with disabilities in the region.
According to the city, since October, the center has been providing a variety of rehabilitation programs and customized services to support the healthy lives and community reintegration of people with disabilities.
Key services specialized for disability rehabilitation include: △Autonomous Exercise Classes for People with Disabilities △Social Participation Programs for People with Disabilities △Customized Rehabilitation for Children △Sling Rehabilitation △Home Visit Rehabilitation, among others.
The Autonomous Exercise Classes for People with Disabilities offer circuit exercise programs to enhance joint range of motion, conducted by occupational therapists using various tools for individuals with disabilities who are able to move around the city.
In addition, the social participation program, in which people with disabilities and their caregivers participated together, provided opportunities for social interaction, self-expression, and self-help group activities through professional instructors throughout November.
The customized rehabilitation program for children is held in the pediatric rehabilitation room at the center, offering physical, cognitive, and learning play activities to promote physical development for children with developmental disabilities.
In particular, the adult rehabilitation room provides gait rehabilitation exercises using slings, as well as various rehabilitation activities utilizing small tools after sling attachment, for adults with physical and brain lesions.
For those who have difficulty visiting the center, a home visit rehabilitation service is also available, where professionals visit the homes of people with disabilities to provide rehabilitation exercise education and health management, including prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
The customized rehabilitation program for children and the sling rehabilitation service will be available until December 20, and the city plans to continue offering a variety of rehabilitation programs next year.
Kim Yongran, Director of Seosan City Public Health Center, said, "We will do our best to support local people with disabilities in recovering their health and achieving independent living through various programs."
Meanwhile, the Seosan Eastern Health Lifestyle Support Center is also operating programs such as 'Visiting Fall Prevention and Physical Activity Education for Seniors' and disability experience classes utilizing virtual reality (VR).
