A forum to establish the foundation for future air mobility in Seosan, Chungnam, was successfully held.

The Seosan city government announced that the "2024 Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Conference," held on the 5th at Benikea Hotel, concluded successfully with the attendance of over 100 participants, including experts in the field and citizens interested in future aviation.

According to the city, eight experts in aviation gave presentations, sharing topics related to government policies and domestic and international trends in the advanced air mobility industry.

Kim Myeongheon, team leader at the Korea Transport Institute, presented an overview and key issues of the Urban Air Mobility Act, while Baek Unyul, senior manager at the Korea Aviation Safety Technology Institute, discussed trends in domestic and international AAM aircraft certification systems.

Nam Minwoo, deputy manager at Korea Gas Safety Corporation, introduced hydrogen law safety management systems related to hydrogen mobility development, and Park Eonsu, deputy director at the Army Education Command, presented concepts and development plans for defense AAM operations.

Lee Juhyun, team leader at Hyundai Motor Company, explained the integrated operation of ground and aerial transportation within the Hyundai Motor Group, and Choi Seonguk, principal researcher at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, described the development and flight testing of electric-powered personal aircraft for both manned and unmanned use.

Kim Myeonghyo, executive director at Hanwha Aerospace, shared trends in the development of core AAM components, while Professor Shin Hyosang of KAIST discussed research, challenges, and development status related to AAM Future Flight.

Representatives from companies such as Hyundai Motor Company, Hanwha Aerospace, Vessel Aerospace, Airbility, and Hyrion, as well as experts from Hanseo University, Chungnam TP, and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, participated in a discussion session through Q&A.

Additionally, citizens interested in the future aviation sector listened attentively to each presentation and actively participated in the Q&A, demonstrating strong interest in the field.

Mayor Lee Wanseop said, "I am pleased that the Advanced Air Mobility Conference has been held for two consecutive years, following last year. Going forward, Seosan will do its best to systematically foster the advanced aviation industry by establishing a future aviation industry cluster in Chungcheongnam-do."

Meanwhile, as a result of a consortium formed with Chungnam Province, Korea Automotive Technology Institute, Chungnam TP, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, and Hanseo University, the city was selected in July for the "Establishment of a Test and Evaluation Base for Core Green UAM-AAV Components" project, hosted by the Korea Aerospace Administration.

As a result of this selection, the city plans to begin construction next year on the Green UAM-AAV Core Component Test and Evaluation Center, aiming for completion in 2026.
