President Lee Haewoo's Recent Visit to Qingdao, Shandong Province, China
Strengthening International Academic and Student Exchanges between Qingdao Agricultural University and Qingdao University
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 6th that President Lee Hae-woo and others recently visited Qingdao City, Shandong Province, China, where they discussed ways to strengthen academic and student exchanges with Qingdao Agricultural University and Qingdao University, thereby expanding exchange and cooperation with Chinese universities.
President Lee Hae-woo of Dong-A University, Dean Jeon Mi-ra of the Academic Affairs Office, and Dean Lee Jeong-jae of the College of Engineering visited the two universities in person on the 27th and 28th of last month, aiming to enhance cooperation in education and research fields and to attract Chinese degree-seeking students.
Dong-A University is discussing and commemorating the strengthening of exchange and cooperation with Qingdao Agricultural University in China.
Qingdao Agricultural University in China, established in 1951, is a public comprehensive university with a total of three campuses, 25 colleges, 82 departments, and over 30,000 enrolled students. It has maintained steady academic exchanges through Dong-A University’s College of Design and Environment’s Department of Landscape Architecture.
Earlier, in September, Tian Yike, Party Secretary of Qingdao Agricultural University, and his delegation visited Dong-A University, and through this reciprocal visit, both universities confirmed their commitment to cooperation in international academic and student exchanges.
Taking this visit as an opportunity, both universities agreed to establish the ‘Dong-A University?Qingdao Agricultural University Joint Laboratory for Cooperation in Landscape Architecture (Fengjing Yuanlin)’ and decided to gradually expand the scope and participants starting with faculty and student exchanges in common major fields.
Dong-A University also discussed ways to strengthen exchange and cooperation with Qingdao University. Dong-A University and Qingdao University have been actively collaborating between departments such as the Department of Law in the College of Law and the Department of Fashion Design in the College of Design and Environment.
Qingdao University in China, founded in 1909, is a public comprehensive university with 28 colleges, 89 departments, and over 40,000 enrolled students.
Both universities plan to seek opportunities to broaden their exchange areas by setting common development directions in fields such as law, fashion design, medicine, and engineering through close cooperation. During this visit, active discussions were held on promoting student, academic, and research exchanges.
At Qingdao University’s School of Law, three alumni who graduated from Dong-A University’s Department of International Legal Affairs are currently faculty members, and at the School of Textile and Apparel, one alumnus from Dong-A University’s Department of Fashion Design is serving as faculty. This serves as a foundation for exchange and cooperation between the two universities.
President Lee Hae-woo and his delegation also held a meeting with Dong-A University graduate alumni from the Department of International Legal Affairs who are active as university faculty and legal professionals in Shandong Province during their visit to Qingdao City, fostering alumni cooperation networks, a sense of belonging, and pride.
The Chinese alumni who graduated from the Chinese track of Dong-A University’s Graduate School of International Legal Affairs number about 50 in total. Among them are 24 associate professors or higher, 34 full-time lecturers or higher, 6 lawyers, as well as journalists and researchers.
President Lee Hae-woo said, “This visit will serve as an opportunity to combine the strengths of Dong-A University, Qingdao Agricultural University, and Qingdao University to jointly nurture global talents and enhance the global competitiveness of the universities. We will maintain close networks with alumni in the Chinese region and promote related projects that can strengthen and utilize the alumni network.”
