They explained, "The accused athlete caused social controversy and damaged the dignity of athletes by posting the comment 'Can I beat them?' on the Hanyang Women's University Student Council’s official Instagram post titled 'Why should women's universities exist?' on November 12, 2024." They added, "However, considering that the individual fully recognized the seriousness of the matter, sincerely reflected by writing and posting an apology, the athlete’s young age, and that this is the first disciplinary incident since registering with our association, the suspension period is set to one year starting from December 5, 2024."
Earlier, the Hanyang Women's University Student Council, 'Hangyeol,' posted a statement on their SNS account on the 12th of last month expressing solidarity with Dongduk Women's University’s protest against the transition to coeducation. At that time, athlete A from the Seoul Jiu-Jitsu Association left the comment "Can I beat them?" on the post, sparking controversy. As the issue escalated, the Seoul Jiu-Jitsu Association issued a statement apologizing on behalf of athlete A for unnecessary and violent remarks, stating, "Several people explained the incident sufficiently via DM (direct message). Since the content was judged to potentially involve assault or violation of athlete dignity, we plan to hold a temporary sports fairness committee meeting according to the regulations of the higher organization."
