SMEC "Ryu Jaehee Executive Director Receives Presidential Citation on 'Gongjakgigaein Day'"

SMEC, a specialized machine tool company, announced on the 6th that Executive Director Ryu Jae-hee of the domestic sales team received the Presidential Citation at the ‘24th Machine Tool Workers' Day’ awards ceremony for his contributions to the development of the machinery, robotics, and aerospace industries.

‘Machine Tool Workers' Day’ is the largest annual industry event held every December, hosted by the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association. This event brings together key government and industry stakeholders who contribute to the expansion of the machine tool market to share industry trends and technological advancements, and to honor the achievements of machine tool workers who have contributed to industrial development.

Executive Director Ryu Jae-hee, who received the Presidential Citation this time, laid the foundation for the advancement of Korean machine tool technology by developing the country’s first wire-cut electrical discharge machining NC at Daewoo Heavy Industries in 1989. After working at Doosan Infracore, he joined SMEC in 2016. In particular, Executive Director Ryu led the pioneering of the machine tool market for the semiconductor and IT industries. His efforts were recognized for contributing to the global market entry of domestically produced machine tools, including SMEC’s receipt of the $100 million Export Tower award in 2023.

Meanwhile, SMEC is also focusing on sales growth through global market expansion. This year, the company recorded its highest performance since its founding, driven by outstanding results in the U.S. and European markets, leading to continuous sales growth. In September, SMEC participated in the machine tool exhibition ‘AMB 2024’ held in Germany, significantly expanding its investment in global marketing.
