Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 6th that it has selected the ‘2024 Yeongju City Outstanding Public Officials for Proactive Administration’ to recognize public officials who have actively promoted tasks such as regulatory innovation, economic revitalization, and proactive response from the citizens' perspective and achieved results.

This selection was finalized by comprehensively reviewing 14 cases of proactive administration submitted through department and citizen recommendations, an online public evaluation involving about 500 citizens, and an expert review by the Yeongju City Proactive Administration Committee held on the 3rd.

Lee Jae-deok, Team Leader of the Rural Workforce Team in the Agricultural Policy Division, who was selected for the grand prize, received high praise for his active efforts, including forming a practical team and directly visiting the Philippines regarding the recruitment of foreign seasonal workers, resulting in stable overseas workforce acquisition and a reduction in unauthorized worker absences.

The excellence awards were given to Park Da-sol, Officer of the Local Era Policy Office, for ‘Promoting the Regional Vitality Town Project to Improve Residential Conditions in the Old Downtown Area’; Seo Min-seok, Officer of the Taxation Division, for ‘Resolving Civil Complaints Due to Omission of Business Closure Reports’; and Jeong Do-hyun, Officer of the Eco-friendly Agriculture Division, for ‘Breaking Through the Philippine Government’s Seasonal Worker Dispatch Regulations through Direct Communication between Local Governments.’

Additionally, encouragement awards were given to Sagong Jeong-gil, Curator of the Culture and Arts Division, for ‘Upgrading Manjukjae and Haewoodang Old Houses in Museom Village, Yeongju, to National Folk Cultural Heritage’; Kim Chae-eun, Rural Guidance Officer of the Rural Guidance Division, for ‘Designing the Agricultural Products I Produce in the Era of Self-PR’; and Kim Ryu-su, Officer of Yeongju 1-dong, for ‘Improving the Environment of the High-Crime Area (Culture Street) in Yeongju 1-dong.’

The selected outstanding public officials will receive preferential treatment in personnel matters such as mayoral commendations, priority selection for domestic and overseas training, and additional points in comprehensive performance evaluations and work performance ratings. The excellent cases will be widely disseminated as proactive administration examples through postings on the city’s website, internal networks, and nationwide publicity.

Mayor Park Nam-seo stated, “Public officials needed by citizens are those who act proactively and carry out their duties creatively,” adding, “We will provide appropriate rewards to public officials who practice proactive administration and continuously strive to spread the atmosphere of proactive administration throughout the public service.”
