Exhibition at Gangwon Design Promotion Institute Gallery Until June Next Year
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) hosted and Gangwon Design Promotion Agency (Director Choi In-sook) organized the ‘Gangwon Design Festa 2024,’ which successfully opened on the 5th at the exhibition hall within the Promotion Agency.

Now in its third year, this event, themed ‘DESIGN=FUTURE,’ showcased the potential of design as a future industry through exhibitions of business achievements by Gangwon design companies and award-winning works from design competitions.
The opening ceremony on the 5th was attended by local designers, industry-academia-research experts, students, related organizations, and local government officials. The exhibition was composed of five halls: the Corporate Support Hall introducing excellent cases of support projects for companies in Gangwon Province; the Public Design Hall featuring Gangwon Province characters and symbols; and the Upcycling Exhibition Hall promoting carbon neutrality through design, among others.
During the event, a commendation ceremony was held for contributors to ‘Gangwon Design Win-Win Cooperation.’ Awards included the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award (Team Leader Lee Sang-pyo of Gangwon Design Promotion Agency), the Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Award (Pencil Museum Co., Ltd., RunRunRace), and the Director of Gangwon Design Promotion Agency Award (Secretary-General Hong Gil-jong of G-Sustainable Strategy Institute, Professor Jin Jae-han of Hansung University), among others.
Following the opening ceremony on the 5th, the ‘Gangwon Design Festa 2024’ will hold a competition awards ceremony and a seminar with related organizations in the design field on the 6th. The exhibition of achievements will continue until June next year, serving as a platform for promoting design projects and disseminating their results.
Choi In-sook, Director of Gangwon Design Promotion Agency, stated, “The design industry is a high value-added industry with high potential for derivation into various industries as a future growth engine. The Design Promotion Agency will continue to create opportunities for exchanges among related companies and departments to help develop Gangwon Province’s future industries through design.”
