Political parties and civil society organizations in the Gyeongnam region have criticized the People Power Party, which has adopted opposition to President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment as its party line.
The Yoon Suk-yeol Resignation Gyeongnam Movement Headquarters, composed of opposition parties including the Democratic Party of Korea, the Party for Innovation and Justice, the Progressive Party, the Labor Party, the Justice Party, as well as over 40 organizations including the Gyeongnam branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, held an emergency press conference on the afternoon of the 5th in front of the People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party Office in Uichang-gu, Changwon City.
They criticized, saying, "It is an outrageous act for the People Power Party to decide opposition to impeachment as its party line."

They also stated, "If the People Power Party becomes Yoon Suk-yeol's bodyguards, they too will disappear," and argued, "No regime can defeat the people, and no regime can stop the people's anger spreading like wildfire."
They urged, "If there are lawmakers who understand the gravity of history and feel the people's boiling anger, if they have eyes to look at the situation and predict the future, they should join the impeachment."
The headquarters has been holding rallies every day from the 4th to the 6th at 6 p.m. in the square in front of Changwon City Hall, condemning President Yoon's declaration of martial law and demanding his resignation.
They plan to participate in the National Rally for Yoon Suk-yeol's Resignation to be held in downtown Seoul and other locations on the 7th.
