Dongdaemun-gu Holds 2024 Volunteer Day Commemoration Ceremony

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) held the 2024 Volunteer Day commemorative event on December 5th at the multipurpose auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office under the theme "Together in Dongdaemun-gu! Happy Volunteering!"

In celebration of Volunteer Day (December 5th every year), Dongdaemun-gu provided an opportunity for volunteers who practiced sharing with neighbors and the community throughout the year to unite and communicate. At this event, a total of 27 awards were presented, including the Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation for the Korea Volunteer Award, Volunteer King Award, and Outstanding Volunteer Award.

The event featured a volunteer oath, a screening of volunteer activity videos, and congratulatory performances for volunteers, creating a meaningful time to conclude a year of volunteer work.

Mayor Ilpyeong Lee of Dongdaemun-gu encouraged the volunteers in his greeting, saying, "This year stood out for volunteer activities such as fire and firefighting support and providing supplies to prepare for heatwaves. I am proud to have all of you who consistently practice volunteering. The district office will continue to do its best to support volunteers so they can carry out their activities with pride."

In front of the event hall, a photo wall for volunteers and signboards with the names of outstanding volunteer award recipients were installed to boost volunteers' pride. Five experience booths, including companion plants and caricatures operated directly by volunteers, were also set up to engage visitors.

Special performances for volunteers included a talent-donated piano recital by the Women’s Committee of the International Rotary District 3650 and a congratulatory performance by the Moving Actors, enriching the event further. Dong-A Socio Holdings, which received the Outstanding Volunteer Corporate Award, conveyed warm hearts by sponsoring Bacchus.
