'Corporate CEOs Meeting'... Cheon Superintendent, Local Business Leaders, and Vocational High School Principals Attend

Cheon Chang-su, Superintendent of Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, met with CEOs of local companies to explore ways to retain local talent.

On the 5th, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held the ‘Second Half CEO Meeting’ at the JW Convention Center in Buk-gu, Ulsan, with about 130 attendees including representatives from over 40 local companies, officials from related organizations, university personnel, and principals of vocational high schools.

At the event, the Ulsan Office of Education awarded Superintendent Commendations to 12 public institutions and companies that contributed to the development of vocational education.

Among the public institutions, the Energy Economics Institute and Korea Energy Agency received the Superintendent Commendation. Companies awarded included Daeheung Machinery, 3D Factory, Yuak Hair, Daedong Machinery, Ready Made, Tanibei Tourist Hotel, Boram Convention, Papa & Sun, and TS Sanjeon. The Korea Polytechnic VII University Ulsan Campus also received the Superintendent Commendation as a local university.

Following this, Superintendent Cheon Chang-su and attendees shared the achievements of Ulsan Office of Education’s vocational education this year and discussed the roles of each institution to ensure vocational high school students successfully find employment in local companies and grow in Ulsan.

This year, the Ulsan Office of Education strengthened technical education in new industry fields centered on the Ulsan Vocational Education Complex Center, the first of its kind nationwide, and promoted vocational high school innovation support projects linked to special zone projects. They have enhanced cooperation with companies and supported local talent employment through events such as CEO meetings, on-site visits by the superintendent to companies, and operation of the Ulsan public institutions’ ‘High School Open School’ program.

A company representative who participated in the event said, “I realized the significant role local companies play in helping vocational high school students grow into future technical talents,” adding, “We want to hire excellent vocational high school students trained at the Ulsan Vocational Education Complex Center.”

Superintendent Cheon Chang-su said, “I thank the CEOs who have worked hard for vocational high school employment and educational activities, and the Office of Education and schools will spare no support to nurture talents who grow together with companies.”

About 40 companies, including representative mid-sized and small enterprises in Ulsan such as Shilla HM and Seojin High Tech, attended the meeting. These companies are leading efforts to nurture local talent by providing employment-linked field training opportunities to third-year vocational high school students in Ulsan.
