Suwon Nambu Fire Station Conducts Fire Safety Inspections at 237 Lodging Facilities Including Motels

The Suwon Southern Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province will conduct fire safety inspections on 237 small-scale lodging facilities from December this year to April next year.

This inspection is a follow-up measure in response to the casualties and property damage caused by fires at hotels in Bucheon in August and lodging facilities in Ansan and Hwaseong in November, and is being carried out in connection with winter fire safety measures.

Earlier, the Suwon Southern Fire Station conducted fire safety inspections on 1,380 large-scale lodging facilities until October and corrected 770 violations.

This inspection will target 237 small-scale lodging facilities such as yeoinsuk (inns), yeogwan (guesthouses), motels, and hotels with four floors or less.

The key inspection items include ▲ the appropriateness of evacuation ladders installed on each floor and inside rooms ▲ acts of closing or blocking evacuation facilities ▲ use of flame-retardant materials ▲ and whether evacuation guides are posted.

Go Young-ju, chief of the Suwon Southern Fire Station, stated, "We will strive to achieve zero fires in lodging facilities by April next year."
