Kim Dong-yeon: "Coup mastermind President Yoon should not hold the presidency"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon continues his fierce criticism of President Yoon Seok-yeol's declaration of martial law.

On the afternoon of the 5th, during a public interview at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government office, Governor Kim stated, "The president must resign immediately," emphasizing, "If there is a public address to the nation, it should only be a resignation statement."

He continued, "The people will not tolerate having the main culprit of the coup that trampled on the democratic constitution remain in the presidential office," urging, "The National Assembly must impeach the president."

In particular, he said, "I hope the People Power Party also comes to its senses," and questioned, "Does it make any sense to protect the main culprit of a coup that violated the constitution?"

He further warned sternly, "No conservative party in any country in the world behaves like this," adding, "The people and history will watch closely and clearly whether they become accomplices to the coup or guardians who protect the democratic constitution."

Earlier, on the 4th, after the National Assembly passed a resolution to lift the martial law declaration, Governor Kim claimed, "President Yoon Seok-yeol is not a subject for impeachment but for arrest."

On the same day, regarding South Korea's martial law, Governor Kim sent letters individually to key foreign figures he knows, pledging "unwavering cooperation."
