Sungkyunkwan University Students Continue Presentations on Solutions to Key Issues in Dongdaemun-gu
Proposals to Be Reviewed and Reflected in Policy Afterward

Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung attended the ‘Policy Design Results Presentation for Solving Social Issues’ held on the 4th at Suseon Hall, Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, Sungkyunkwan University.

This presentation was an event where students of the ‘Policy Design Course for Solving Social Issues’ (Professor Park Hyung-joon in charge), jointly conducted by Dongdaemun-gu and the Sungkyunkwan University Humanities and Social Convergence Talent Development Project Group, presented policy proposals prepared through research and discussion.

The presented content includes the process and outcomes of students’ efforts to solve three major issues in Dongdaemun-gu?▲ the expansion of the Suin-Bundang Line ▲ revitalization of traditional markets around Cheongnyangni ▲ innovation in secondary education?following the ‘Special Lecture on Delivering Dongdaemun-gu’s Current Issues’ held by Mayor Lee Pil-hyung on September 25.

The students proposed novel and innovative solutions reflecting the perspectives of various stakeholders from their own viewpoints. Dongdaemun-gu plans to incorporate the presented proposals into policies through objective and thorough review.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “This presentation vividly showed the students of Sungkyunkwan University engaging in intense discussion and consideration of Dongdaemun-gu’s challenges,” adding, “The students’ original and creative ideas will greatly contribute to the realization of Dongdaemun-gu’s policies in the future.” He also stated, “We will continue to cooperate with local universities to further expand opportunities for university students to participate in policymaking.”
