Gyeongbuk Development Corporation Volunteers to Renovate Old House for Elderly Woman with Spinal Disability

Completion of 'Haengbokhan House 8th Branch'

Gyeongbuk Development Corporation (Mayor Lee Jae-hyuk) has contributed to creating warm homes for vulnerable housing groups. On the 4th, Gyeongbuk Development Corporation held a completion ceremony for ‘The Happy GBDC House No. 8’ in Geumgok-ri, Cheongsong-eup, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk. The ceremony was a meaningful event attended by Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, Gyeongbuk Volunteer Center, Cheongsong-gun officials, and local residents.


In particular, the recipient of ‘The Happy GBDC House’ No. 8, completed in Geumgok-ri, Cheongsong-eup, is an elderly single household with a spinal disability living in poor housing conditions. The local government and related parties devoted great care from selecting the recipient to renovation work.

‘The Happy GBDC House’ project is a representative social contribution activity utilizing the business capabilities of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, aimed at renovating housing facilities for vulnerable groups. Starting with the first house in Sangju City in 2022, the project has entered its third year this year, and plans to complete the ninth house by early next year.


The project is a collaborative effort among four organizations: Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, Gyeongsangbuk-do Volunteer Center, and the Korean Red Cross Gyeongbuk Branch. Each organization contributes according to its strengths, including donation of construction costs, dispatch of employees and renovation work, contacting local community centers and selecting recipients, and post-completion management.


Lee Jae-hyuk, President of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, said, “Seeing the grandmother happy with her warm home warms my heart,” and added, “We will continue to expand the project with the goal of providing warm and comfortable homes throughout all 22 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk.”
