Chungnam Province announced on the 5th that it has been selected as an outstanding local government in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Local Investment Promotion Project Local Government Evaluation'.
Since 2010, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has been selecting outstanding local governments by comprehensively evaluating the investment attraction efforts of local governments nationwide through the Local Investment Promotion Project.
Despite the ongoing global economic downturn for the past 2 years and 5 months since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, the province has attracted a total investment of 32.219 trillion won from 206 domestic and foreign companies.
As a result of this selection, the province will receive a 5 to 10 percentage point higher ratio of national subsidies for local investment promotion next year.
The number of new jobs expected to be created through investment attraction is estimated at 46,382.
Governor Kim Tae-heum said, "This selection is the result of our efforts to make Chungnam a business-friendly province," adding, "We will do our best to achieve the early accomplishment of the 40 trillion won investment attraction goal for the 8th popularly elected administration next year."
