Selected as 'Best District' Among 25 Autonomous Districts in Seoul, Securing 5 Million KRW Prize
Evaluated by Combining Last Year's Collection Performance and Delinquency Scale, Ranked 5th with 81.69 Points
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) was selected as the best district in Seoul's "Last Year's Tax Collection Excellence Evaluation" and secured a prize of 5 million won.
The evaluation was conducted targeting the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul to appropriately reward district employees who made efforts to increase city tax revenue and to boost morale. From January to September this year, the evaluation was differentiated by combining last year's delinquent tax collection performance and the scale of delinquency.
As a result of the evaluation, Gwangjin-gu scored 40.43 points in collection performance, which indicates last year's tax settlement rate, and 41.25 points in the scale of delinquency, representing the cumulative delinquency rate, totaling 81.69 points. It ranked 4th in collection performance, 10th in delinquency scale, and 5th overall, receiving the top award.
The district took proactive measures to collect delinquent taxes. Delinquents were classified according to their credit scores, focusing on those with a high likelihood of collection to encourage voluntary payment. Through an investigation of high-amount delinquents owing more than 2 million won, the district promoted collection efforts, restricted licensed businesses, provided public record information, and actively conducted collection activities including public disclosure of names.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "This award is an excellent achievement created by the efforts of our employees and the cooperation of our residents. We will provide better administrative services to residents through transparent and fair tax administration," and added, "We will continue to do our best to build a trusted Gwangjin-gu by implementing systematic and efficient tax administration."
