Daedong Hospital (Director Lee Kwang-jae) was awarded as a meritorious contributor to the promotion of emergency medical policies at the 2024 Busan Emergency Medical Related Organizations Workshop held on the 4th at Conference Halls A and F of the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center.

About 180 participants attended the workshop, including representatives from Busan City, Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, health centers of 16 districts and counties in Busan, 12 fire stations in Busan, 29 emergency medical institutions in Busan, and the Central Emergency Medical Center. The event was held to discuss cooperation among emergency medical related organizations and the development direction of the regional emergency medical system.

Daedong Hospital began operating its emergency room after being licensed as a general hospital in 1980, was designated as a regional emergency medical institution in 1995, and was promoted to a regional emergency medical center in 2019 to address emergency medical service gaps in Geumjeong-gu and the Dongbusan area of Busan, establishing a severe emergency medical response system.
Additionally, through emergency treatment education and volunteer activities, the hospital contributed to improving regional emergency medical services. It was recognized for its contributions to regional health development and the promotion of Busan City's emergency medical policies by actively participating in emergency medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the emergency medical situation caused by resident doctors’ resignations in 2024, receiving this meritorious award.
Jung Dong-moon, Head of the Spine Center and Director of Medical Affairs at Daedong Hospital (Neurosurgery Specialist), stated, “This award is thanks to the efforts of all medical staff and employees of Daedong Hospital who have prioritized patients and dedicated themselves to the development of the regional emergency medical system.” He added, “Through this workshop, we reaffirmed the importance of the emergency medical system, and we will continue to do our best to improve the regional emergency medical environment.”
Daedong Hospital is engaged in various activities to improve the quality of Busan City's emergency medical system, including ▲establishing a Basic Life Support (BLS) education center ▲dispatching personnel to the joint situation room for Busan City’s Eulji Exercise ▲participating as a designated hospital for the 2019 Korea-ASEAN Special Summit ▲being designated as a radiation emergency medical institution by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
