Guro-gu New Public Officials Disaster Response Safety Experience

33 Newly Appointed Public Officials in 2024 Experience Disaster Situations Including CPR, Fire Suppression, and Evacuation

Guro-gu announced on the 5th that it conducted a disaster response safety experience for newly appointed public officials in 2024 over two days, the 3rd and 4th, at the Guro-gu Disaster Safety Experience Center.

The disaster response safety experience is held annually to strengthen the disaster management capabilities of new public officials through virtual disaster simulations and to enhance their sense of duty and safety awareness as public officials in disaster response.

This year, a total of 33 new public officials participated, with 13 on the 3rd and 20 on the 4th.

After lectures by safety experts, participants learned safety rules and action guidelines for various disaster situations such as ▲cardiopulmonary resuscitation ▲fire suppression ▲fire evacuation ▲earthquake occurrence through various hands-on experiences.

In particular, the experiential safety education received positive feedback from participants because they could directly suppress fires in video scenarios using practice fire extinguishers or experience how to safely escape from fire scenes in darkness and smoke.

One employee who participated in this experience said, “It was very helpful to properly learn the response procedures for disaster situations that must be known,” and added, “I will familiarize myself with these procedures to be able to use them on-site if necessary and carry out my duties accordingly.”

A Guro-gu official stated, “We will continue to do our best to strengthen disaster management capabilities and ensure the safety of residents.”
