SC Jeil Bank Solely Selected as '2024 Governance Honorary Company'

Korea ESG Standards Institute Excellent Companies Awards Ceremony

SC First Bank announced on the 5th that it was solely selected as the ‘2024 Governance Honorary Company’ at the ‘2024 Korea ESG Standards Institute Excellent Company Awards Ceremony’ held at the Korea Exchange in Yeouido, Seoul.


The Korea ESG Standards Institute evaluated, “SC First Bank has established a harmonious system of ESG management and supervision based on a dynamic board culture and mutual respect between the board of directors and management. It has established a sustainable ESG management system and stably built an advanced board and CEO succession system capable of realizing sustainable growth.”


The Korea ESG Standards Institute stated, “Specifically, the company showed significant differentiation from others in terms of the CEO’s inclusive leadership, a sound communication culture based on mutual respect between the board and management, active support for outside directors, the establishment of challenging ESG strategies under the board’s supervision, the creation of systematic ESG strategy implementation plans and monitoring systems, faithful operation of short- and mid-to-long-term board succession plans, and thorough board review of next CEO development.”

This year, the Korea ESG Standards Institute’s corporate governance evaluation was conducted on a total of 1,066 companies (947 general listed companies and 119 financial companies). SC First Bank is the only bank to have received an A+ rating for six consecutive years since 2019. It was the first commercial bank to win the sole grand prize for governance excellence for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021), and it was the first company to be selected as a governance honorary company for three consecutive years (2022?2024) since the Korea ESG Standards Institute began governance evaluations.


Park Jong-bok, CEO of SC First Bank, said, “It is a great honor to be selected as an honorary company for three consecutive years by the Korea ESG Standards Institute, which has the highest authority and influence in Korea.
