"Suspicious Circumstances Involving Spy Intervention Cause Sensitivity"
Musical actor Cha Gang-seok wrote a post expressing support for President Yoon Seok-yeol's declaration of martial law but later apologized. However, even in his apology, he mentioned the 'spy theory.'
On the 4th, Cha Gang-seok posted on his social media (SNS), "There are too many spies. I welcome martial law. Please catch all the spies and execute them." This post immediately drew strong criticism from many netizens. Eventually, Cha Gang-seok bowed his head, saying, "I feel sorry for the attention given to an insignificant person at such a late hour."
He stated, "I was sensitive due to recent spy issues and posted the story filled with expectations for the eradication of anti-state forces. I deeply apologize for using low-level and extreme expressions."
He continued, "I regret the current political climate and government administration, which are focused only on narrow-minded thinking, pursuing self-interest, and dividing people, causing mutual hatred. It seems I became even more sensitive as circumstances involving spies emerged at the center of this."
He said, "I love our proud country, and I am grateful, respectful, and loving toward those who criticize as well. I dislike spies who harm national interests, but that does not mean I am defending President Yoon or hating you. I sincerely ask for your understanding."
He also revealed a message sent to him by a netizen. He admitted, "Watching the (presidential) statement, I thought, 'They must have solid evidence to do this,' and I supported the eradication of those attempting to overthrow the government through communism, but I realize my thoughts were very short-sighted."
Netizens continue to pour sharp criticism on Cha Gang-seok's apology. Responses included, "Can you prove where you saw the spies?", "Tell us where they intervened," "Did you write a post welcoming this without knowing the full context?", and "Do you even know what martial law is?"
