At the Top Level, "Preventing Damage from Unprepared Chaos"
"There Was a Perception Gap with the President"... Martial Law Justification Not Acceptable
Party Leader Must Know Before Party Decision at the Assembly
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, once again brought up the card of President Yoon Seok-yeol's withdrawal from the party instead of impeachment on the 5th.
On the same day, at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Leader Han stated, "I have been more concerned yesterday and until early this morning than on the day the martial law was declared."

Leader Han said, "As the party leader, I will try to prevent this impeachment from passing to avoid unprepared chaos and harm to the people and supporters," but added, "This does not mean I am defending the president's unconstitutional martial law. From the initial declaration of martial law, I was the first to share the people's anger and patriotism regarding this situation, and I will continue to do so."
Leader Han, who met with the president the day before, said there was a difference in perception. He said, "The president's perception of this situation was very different from mine and the people's, and it was difficult to empathize. The president said that the emergency martial law was unavoidable due to the Democratic Party of Korea's violence, but unconstitutional and illegal emergency martial law cannot be justified."
Furthermore, Leader Han emphasized that those involved in this emergency martial law, including the president and military officials, must be strictly held accountable. He said, "Therefore, we must alleviate the public's anxiety that such incidents might happen again or be prepared again."
Reiterating his call for President Yoon's withdrawal from the party, Leader Han said, "As the party leader, I demand once again. This incident greatly deviates from the spirit of liberal democracy." Earlier, Leader Han had conveyed the president's withdrawal proposal at a party members' meeting, but no conclusion was reached due to differing opinions.
Meanwhile, Leader Han argued that there should be an opportunity to express opinions before the party's official stance is decided at the party members' meeting. This remark is interpreted as stemming from the fact that the People Power Party adopted the rejection of the president's impeachment as the party stance at the early morning meeting, but Leader Han was unaware of it. Leader Han said, "The party stance is decided at the members' meeting, but in most cases, the party leader is not informed in advance," adding, "In the future, the party leader should be informed before decisions are made at the members' meeting, and it is problematic that the party stance is decided every time without the party leader knowing."
