"They Said 'There Was an Order to Block Access'"

Progressive broadcaster Kim Eo-jun revealed that after President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law, a military arrest squad came to his house.

On the morning of the 4th, Kim did not appear on his YouTube channel 'Kim Eo-jun's Humility is Difficult.' Instead, former KBS reporter Lee Jae-seok took over the hosting. At the beginning of the video, Lee said, "Kim Eo-jun should be here right now," and added, "A military arrest squad came to Kim's house, but he escaped and is now somewhere else."

Later, Kim connected to the studio via phone and said, "The military arrest squad came to the front of my house," adding, "According to the tip I received, a travel ban was imposed and an arrest warrant was prepared. I am now far away after rushing overnight." He continued, "I am quick-witted. I thought such a thing could happen, so I have a simulation prepared," and explained, "I will keep the specific methods secret. I am skilled at evasion."

Kim also commented on the declaration of martial law, saying, "In the virtual reality created by the president, he must save the country himself, so he made a solitary decision to save the nation," and added, "In my opinion, the National Assembly responded at an incredibly fast pace." He further stated, "Another thing is that the military personnel, who correspond to the backbone, were not as coordinated as expected, and on-site they were less coercive than anticipated," adding, "The hesitation of the soldiers also played a significant role."

Additionally, Kim claimed that martial law troops visited a YouTube studio near Chungjeongno Station in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, presenting video evidence. He said, "The martial law troops were deployed throughout the building, surrounding roads, and alleys," and claimed, "The soldiers said, 'Since the order has been given, there is no choice. We were instructed to block access to this place.'"

Earlier, President Yoon declared martial law at around 10:28 p.m. on the 3rd through an emergency national address. Following this, martial law troops gathered at the National Assembly and attempted to enter the main building around midnight, leading to clashes with secretariat staff and party aides who tried to block them. Subsequently, a motion to lift martial law was passed through a plenary session, and the government lifted martial law at 4:30 a.m. after a Cabinet meeting. On the afternoon of the 4th, six opposition parties including the Democratic Party gathered at the National Assembly Secretariat in Yeouido, Seoul, to submit an impeachment motion against President Yoon. The submitted impeachment motion reportedly stated that "President Yoon issued martial law, which is fundamentally invalid, violating the Constitution and laws despite not meeting any of the constitutional requirements for martial law."
