"Observe for 2 to 3 More Days"
The Chengdu Panda Base in Sichuan Province, China, where the giant panda Fubao lives, revealed Fubao's condition again on the 4th after showing signs of abnormality for more than three days. The base stated, "Fubao's mental state, appetite, movement, and excretion activities are all normal."
On the same day, the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve in Sichuan Province posted a video of Fubao's latest condition on the social media platform Weibo.
The base said, "Immediately after detecting abnormal signs the previous day, caretakers and veterinarians were assigned to monitor closely 24 hours a day," adding, "Fubao's mental state, appetite, movement, and excretion activities are all normal."
They continued, "Fubao's gait is stable, limbs are strong, and body temperature, heartbeat, and respiration are all normal," adding, "Blood and urine and feces test results also showed no abnormalities."
The base added, "Fubao will not go to the outdoor exercise yard for the next 2 to 3 days for further observation."
However, they did not specify what exact abnormal signs appeared in Fubao or whether the cause had been investigated.
The previous day, many videos were posted on Weibo showing Fubao trembling and seemingly having convulsions while eating bamboo shoots.
A hashtag called 'Fubao Trembled' (福寶發?) was even created on Weibo, and fans are praying for Fubao's safety.
Fubao was born on July 20, 2020, between Lubao and Aibao, pandas sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping in March 2016 as a symbol of China-Korea friendship promotion.
Since then, Fubao lived at Everland in Yongin and was affectionately called 'Yongin Pussi' and 'Princess Pu,' receiving much love. According to an agreement that giant pandas born overseas must return to China before turning four years old, Fubao was returned to China on April 3, 1354 days after birth.
After the return, suspicions that Fubao was being treated poorly in China were recently raised by Korean and Chinese netizens, and the Chinese authorities have been striving to quell the controversy by directly issuing rebuttals and continuously releasing videos of Fubao.
