‘Dodam’ is an activity group whose name means ‘Let’s build a wall against gambling,’ spreading the message to stay away from gambling problems and aim for a healthy life for all.
This group was formed through the alliance of the Department of Social Welfare’s child and youth welfare club ‘Cuore’ and the mental health welfare club ‘PSW,’ and over the past year, they have carried out various activities to raise awareness of the seriousness of gambling problems and to prevent them.
In addition to conducting a gambling behavior survey and prevention contest targeting enrolled students, they produced various content such as Insta-toons, UCC, and short-form videos to promote the risks of gambling problems through social media.
In particular, by collaborating with Handong University and Gyeongnam National University, they held a joint campaign in Pohang, increasing local community interest and contributing to spreading the importance of gambling prevention.
Moreover, they received high evaluations for their creative and effective activities using various media, including on- and off-campus campaigns, card news production, and single-gambling promotional videos.
Dodam president and third-year student Lee Da-kyung said, “We constantly thought about effective ways to raise awareness of the seriousness of gambling problems, and as a result of working hard with the members, I am very proud that we were able to widely promote the importance of prevention in the local community.”
Advisor Professor Na Ji-hoon said, “This year was the first time Daegu Catholic University was selected as a prevention activity group,” adding, “We will take the lead in creating a community free from gambling problems through this experience.”
