The Chosun University branch of the National Association of Professors and Researchers for a Democratic and Equal Society (Mingyohyeop) demanded on the 4th, "Arrest Yoon Seok-yeol for his loyalist coup d'?tat and rebellion."
In a statement on the same day, the Mingyohyeop Chosun University branch said, "The act of blocking access to the National Assembly and obstructing the convening of lawmakers clearly violates South Korea's Martial Law Act."
The professors continued, "On November 21, we demanded that 'a president who mocks the people, undermines democracy, and provokes the threat of war is unnecessary' and called for his voluntary resignation," adding, "However, Yoon Seok-yeol ignored our warnings and instigated rebellion by forcefully seizing control of the National Assembly, the representatives of the people, to maintain power."
They stated, "Now, Yoon Seok-yeol is not someone who should resign voluntarily but a criminal who must be arrested on the spot for rebellion along with impeachment," emphasizing, "All those involved in the declaration of emergency martial law and the execution of the loyalist coup must also be identified and punished."
They urged, "The National Assembly must immediately take all necessary measures to restore democracy and the rule of law."
