President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law on the 3rd but lifted it after six hours, and actress Kim Ji-woo expressed her bewilderment over the situation.

On the 4th, Kim Ji-woo posted on her social media (SNS), "I never thought I would directly experience martial law in my lifetime. To see martial law troops blocking the National Assembly... What is this?" along with a photo. The photo she shared showed a news special report covering the martial law situation.

Kim Ji-woo said, "I'm not blaming the martial law troops; what crime did the soldiers deployed to the scene commit? They must be much younger than me," adding, "The soldiers who were simply ordered to be dispatched to the scene are also, just like me, citizens of the Republic of Korea, so I only feel sorrow."

Around midnight that day, the martial law troops deployed three helicopters to descend into the backyard of the National Assembly and attempted to enter the premises. They were fully armed, wearing bulletproof helmets, masks, bulletproof vests, and carrying firearms. As the martial law troops tried to enter the National Assembly, aides inside and outside the main building blocked them, leading to standoffs in various locations. There were also clashes between soldiers and those trying to prevent the martial law troops from entering the National Assembly.
