Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 4th that it conducted a joint public-private inspection and promotion campaign to improve the harmful environment for youth targeting the Shinjang old downtown area, Misa Riverside City commercial district, and Gam-il district on the 3rd.

The joint public-private inspection was carried out to prevent deviant behaviors such as drinking and smoking among youth who were relieved from the tension after the college entrance exam.
The joint inspection involved 10 organizations (50 people), including ▲City Youth Job Division and Food Hygiene Green Business Division ▲Hanam YWCA ▲Ministry of Justice Crime Prevention Committee Hanam Branch ▲Elementary School Parent Police ▲Middle School Parent Police ▲Youth Training Center ▲Deokpung Youth Culture House ▲Gam-il Youth Culture House ▲Youth Counseling Welfare Center ▲Out-of-School Support Center.
The joint public-private inspection team visited local youth-harmful establishments and areas around schools to guide and inspect △whether signs prohibiting the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to youth were posted △violations of the obligation to prohibit youth entry and employment △sales of harmful substances to youth and distribution of inappropriate flyers.
Additionally, to spread public awareness about protecting youth, they visited convenience stores and restaurants frequently visited by youth and distributed promotional materials related to eradicating harmful environments for youth to the business owners.
A Hanam City official said, “We conducted a joint public-private campaign to promote and inspect the improvement of harmful environments for youth so that students who took the college entrance exam can be protected from harmful environments. Through this campaign, Hanam City will actively strive to create an environment where youth recognize the risks of harmful environments, form healthy values, and build positive social relationships.”
