Yangpyeong-gun Holds Year-End and New Year Christmas Tree and Street Lighting Ceremony

A Bright Light That Warms the Hearts of Both Soldiers and Civilians

Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) announced on the 4th that it held the "2024 Year-end and New Year Christmas Tree and Street Lighting Ceremony" at 5 p.m. on the 2nd at the entrance of the county office building.

This year, following last year, Christmas trees were installed at the roundabout in front of the county office and the three-way roundabout in front of Yangpyeong Presbyterian Church, and street lights were lit from the county office building to Yangpyeong Station. The lighting ceremony began with the participation of residents, featuring Christmas carols by the Yangpyeong Pops Orchestra and a heartfelt congratulatory performance.

The first part was a commemorative worship service for the Christmas tree lighting, hosted by the Yangpyeong-gun Christian Council, and a special stage by foreign students from Asia United Theological University received great applause from attendees. The second part of the lighting ceremony was attended by Governor Jeon Jin-seon, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members Park Myung-sook and Lee Hye-won, Yangpyeong County Council Vice Chairperson Oh Hye-ja and member Yoon Soon-ok, as well as Kim Il-hyun, president of the Yangpyeong-gun Christian Council (Guksu Church), who all participated in the lighting together.

Governor Jeon Jin-seon said, "I hope that the tree and street lights illuminating the streets centered around the county office will comfort the hearts of the Yangpyeong residents who have had a tumultuous year and bring happiness," adding, "I hope the light lit today will become a new hope that brightens the coming new year."

Meanwhile, this year’s Christmas trees were installed at the roundabouts in front of the Yangpyeong County Office building and Yangpyeong Presbyterian Church, and with the addition of street lighting, a warm winter atmosphere was created. The trees and lights will be illuminated from December 2, when the lighting ceremony was held, until the end of January next year.
