The Ministry of Health and Welfare conducts an annual evaluation of excellent local governments to strengthen the public nature of child protection and raise awareness of child protection among local governments.

The excellent local government evaluation rewards the efforts of local governments to establish a child protection system, such as the deployment of dedicated child protection personnel, targeting 16 metropolitan cities and provinces and 229 city, county, and district governments.

In this evaluation, scores were given based on a total of 10 criteria, including the operation of child protection organizations and personnel, operation of case decision committees, provision of child protection services, and performance of excellent cases.

Pocheon City was selected as an excellent institution through the deliberation of the Ministry of Health and Welfare selection committee and will receive the Minister’s Award and a commendation for meritorious service.

In particular, the city was recognized for its active promotion of special and excellent policies, such as the ‘Pocheon Future Generation First Stepping Stone Project’ to support the independent settlement of children aging out of protection, which is a mayoral pledge project, and its own projects supporting the emotional, cultural, and leisure activities of children residing in group homes, contributing to the establishment of the child protection system.

A Pocheon City official said, “We will continue to promote policies that prioritize the interests of children throughout the entire child protection process.”
