Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 4th that it held the "Annual Report Meeting on the Island Area Specialization Project" for the continuous development of the island villages of Shinsudo and Mado as part of the island area specialization project.
Through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's island area specialization project, the city plans to discover the unique resources and characteristics of the island villages and implement various projects to generate income for residents.
Shinsudo and Mado have formed resident councils through this project and are conducting small-scale pilot projects with direct resident participation. A field management team has been deployed to work on establishing unique development plans for the island villages.
The annual report meeting was organized to review the outcomes of pilot projects considering the characteristics and resources of each island village and to share future plans.
Shinsudo is planning projects utilizing trekking courses that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy along with Shinsudo’s beautiful marine scenery, as well as building an island brand using the local specialty sweet potatoes.
Mado is promoting plans to maximize its appeal as an island with beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and starry skies by utilizing the existing glamping site.
