The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that the troops deployed under martial law returned to their original units as of 4:22 a.m. on the 4th.
The Joint Chiefs added, "There have been no unusual movements from North Korea so far, and the alert posture against the North remains normal." Just before the Joint Chiefs' announcement, President Yoon Suk-yeol stated in a speech, "The troops deployed for martial law duties have been withdrawn," and "Martial law will be lifted through a Cabinet meeting." The martial law command, which had been established within the military, was disbanded along with President Yoon's speech.
