President Yoon Suk-yeol declared the lifting of martial law in an emergency national address on the 4th.

It has been about six hours since President Yoon declared martial law the previous afternoon, and about three and a half hours since the National Assembly passed a resolution demanding the lifting of martial law.

The following is the full text of President Yoon's emergency address

Dear fellow citizens,

Last night at 11 p.m., I declared martial law with a resolute will to save the nation against anti-state forces attempting to paralyze the essential functions of the state and collapse the constitutional order of liberal democracy.

However, just a moment ago, upon the National Assembly's request to lift martial law, I have withdrawn the military forces deployed for martial law duties.

Through the Cabinet meeting, we will accept the National Assembly's demand and lift martial law.

Although the Cabinet meeting was convened immediately, due to the early morning hour, the quorum for a resolution has not yet been met, but martial law will be lifted as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, I request the National Assembly to immediately cease the outrageous acts that paralyze the functions of the state through repeated impeachments, legislative obstruction, and budget manipulation.
