"Separate Notice Upon Situation Change"
President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law on the night of the 3rd, and the Ministry of Education stated that "all operations and academic schedules will continue as normal."
In a statement distributed to the press corps that day, the Ministry of Education said, "We will provide separate guidance if there are any changes in the situation."
In the event martial law is declared, schools may temporarily close to ensure student safety. The Martial Law Command's Proclamation (No. 1) specifies that "measures will be taken to minimize inconvenience to the general public in their daily lives."
Previously, following the October 26 Incident in 1979, nationwide school closures were implemented, and when martial law was declared on May 17, 1980, schools in the Gwangju area and universities nationwide were closed.
