Ministry of Land, 8,000 Additional Houses to Be Supplied in Namyangju Wangsuk District... First Sale Next Year

The housing supply volume in the Wangsuk District of Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province, a 3rd phase new town scheduled for its first sale next year, will increase from the existing 67,000 households to 75,000 households. This measure aims to expand housing supply and partially lower the sale prices.

On the afternoon of the 3rd, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that Minister Park Sang-woo visited Wangsuk District and Yonghyeon District in Uijeongbu City to review the housing supply plans.

Wangsuk District (12.69 million㎡) is 4.4 times the size of Yeouido and is the largest among the 3rd phase new towns. The metropolitan area express railroad (GTX) Line B and Subway Line 9 are scheduled to pass through. The areas around the stations will be developed as mixed-use complexes concentrating urban infrastructure such as housing, jobs, education, medical care, and culture.

The Ministry of Land decided to increase the housing construction land and reduce the self-sufficient facility land in Wangsuk District to expand the apartment supply scale. The housing construction land was expanded from 2.13 million㎡ to 2.31 million㎡, and the self-sufficient facility land, which can be used for office facilities, was reduced from 420,000㎡ to 360,000㎡. The park and green space area was also reduced from 3.21 million㎡ to 3.08 million㎡. Accordingly, 8,000 more households will be supplied compared to the existing plan, and 3,500 households will be sold for the first time next year.

Previously, the government announced plans to increase the supply volume of 3rd phase new towns through the January 10 and August 8 measures. Minister Park said, "Wangsuk District is a new town promoted with a large-scale integrated development direction for the Namyangju area since its announcement," adding, "Expanding housing supply will enhance the competitiveness of supply prices (sale prices), and the demand for commercial and other living infrastructure will increase, contributing to regional revitalization."

Yonghyeon District will be developed as an integrated living zone linked with the nearby legal town, Gosan, and Millak Districts. The Ministry of Land expects that by mutually complementing urban infrastructure such as culture, sports, and self-sufficient facilities, the area will be revitalized and residential conditions improved. The goal is to designate the district in the first half of 2026, begin the first sale in 2029, and the first move-in in 2031.

To this end, the Ministry of Land has agreed with the Ministry of National Defense to secure early acquisition of public land, which accounts for 55% of the district. Minister Park said, "We will strive to develop Yonghyeon District in an organized manner," and urged, "As the public eagerly awaits housing supply, related agencies should closely cooperate to carry out the project without delay as promised, and also focus on on-site quality and safety management to supply high-quality public housing."

Next year, 16,000 households of public sale housing on public land in the metropolitan area, including the 3rd phase new towns, are planned. The Ministry of Land plans to promote about 30,000 households annually of public sale housing centered on highly preferred locations within metropolitan public land even after 2026.
