Gwangjin-gu, Our Neighborhood Care Center Branch 2 Renovated

Remodeling Tailored to Children's Eye Level, Decorated with Green-Hued Flora and Fauna Designs
Study Space Arrangement, Kitchen Area Relocation, Locker Replacement, and Other Space Renewals

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) completed facility reinforcement construction and freshly renovated the second branch of the Uri Dongnae Care Center (Jayang-ro 3ga-gil 28) on the 25th of last month.

The Uri Dongnae Care Center is an elementary care facility first introduced in 2019 for elementary school students who need after-school care. It provides care programs such as play, rest, education, and culture, becoming a reliable neighbor for dual-income families. In Gwangjin-gu, it started with the first branch in 2019 and has now expanded to the 10th branch, taking care of children.

The second branch of the Uri Dongnae Care Center is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the 30-year-old Jayang Police Substation building. It has an area of 131㎡ and provides care services to 24 children. Recently, residents have expressed opinions requesting facility improvements regarding leaks, electricity usage, and contamination.

Accordingly, the district remodeled the center with an interior designed to match the children's eye level. Soft protective cushions were installed throughout, and green-colored plants and animals were painted on the walls. The space was efficiently divided to ensure safety when children pass through.

Additionally, ▲study and nursing spaces were organized ▲the cooking area was rearranged ▲old cooling facilities and lockers were replaced ▲walls were repainted, all carefully done so that children can study and rest in a better environment.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We paid close attention to ensure that children can receive care in a safer and more comfortable environment,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a child-friendly city by supporting high-quality care services through various programs.”

Meanwhile, the district is also working to improve the environment of six other centers besides the second branch of the Uri Dongnae Care Center through facility reinforcement construction such as repairing corridor railings, installing storage spaces, and repairing lockers.
