Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu City, inspected the site of the recently selected new housing supply area in the metropolitan area, the ‘Yonghyeon Public Housing District,’ together with Park Sang-woo, Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on the 3rd.

This inspection was arranged to confirm the government’s message for the steady supply of public housing and to promote cooperation from local governments for the early supply of new housing sites.
Before the site inspection, Mayor Kim Dong-geun and Minister Park Sang-woo held a meeting regarding local issues at the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) Northern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters.
At this meeting, Mayor Kim Dong-geun delivered a proposal letter to Minister Park Sang-woo containing local issues such as ▲ active reflection of public cultural and sports facilities ▲ sufficient securing of self-sufficient facility sites ▲ extension of Subway Line 8 Byeollae Line to Uijeongbu for regional development and early supply of public housing.
During the site inspection, they toured the Yonghyeon Public Housing District, where the former 306 Supplementary Unit was located, explaining the surrounding conditions and the progress of projects such as the nearby Legal Public Housing District. In particular, they once again requested thorough consideration of traffic improvements around the Yonghyeon district and major issues in Uijeongbu.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “The Uijeongbu Yonghyeon Public Housing District is an excellent site for development, including the 306 Supplementary Unit,” adding, “We expect it to revitalize the local economy by establishing cultural and sports facilities, transportation networks, and self-sufficient functions suited to local conditions.”
