Jang Dong-hyuk, a Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, expressed the opinion that it is necessary to observe the investigation results related to Myung Tae-gyun, which is currently underway at the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office, in connection with the re-vote on the special investigation law concerning First Lady Kim Geon-hee. He also stated that it is unrelated to the controversy over the party leader's bulletin board and the handling of the special investigation law.
On the 3rd, Council Member Jang appeared on MBC Radio and said, "The recently passed special investigation law mostly concerns (First Lady Kim's) stock manipulation and Myung Tae-gyun." He added, "The prosecution's investigation is being conducted intensively, the ruling party's headquarters has been raided, and a prominent ruling party politician is also under investigation. Nearly 90% of what the special investigation intended to do is being investigated by the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office." He continued, "Whether it will be on the 10th or at some other time, it is necessary to observe the investigation situation until the re-vote. Saying now whether the re-vote on the special investigation law will pass or not may not be appropriate. In that regard, some opinions suggest that we should wait and see."
Regarding the media's speculation that the so-called party member bulletin board controversy is related, Council Member Jang said, "It is not appropriate to link this issue (party member bulletin board controversy) with the re-vote on the special investigation." He added, "The special investigation is not just about what the special investigation team is doing; it is being repeated endlessly with the purpose of opening the presidential office's lock and going as far as impeachment, which is why we oppose it. It is not appropriate to pass such a significant decision because of the party member bulletin board."
Regarding the national audit on the Cha Hae-byeong case, which the ruling party has agreed to participate in, he said, "Since it is intended to hold a public hearing for the people, I do not think anything significant will come out of it."
