Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do), Department of Computer Software (Department Head Heo Bong-sik), achieved remarkable success with all participating teams winning awards at the 2024 Busan Digital Innovation Academy Hackathon (Dev-ton) held on the 20th of last month.
This competition was organized by the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency and hosted by Busan City, targeting students from IT-related departments of 15 universities.
In this competition, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology’s Department of Computer Software students Baek Seung-yeon, Jang Yoon-ji, Ki Yeon-ji, and Lee Ye-jin won the Technology Award. Additionally, students Chu Sang-heon, Bae Jin-woo, Kim Young-taek, and Choi Byung-kwon received the Innovation Award, while Im Ho-young, Kim Sung-min, and Jo Sang-woo were honored with the Future-Oriented Award.
Students Kim Sung-jin, Ha Jae-beom, Han Seo-jin, and Koo Dong-hyun received the Idea Award, resulting in all four participating teams winning awards. This achievement is notable as it was the only success by a junior college among mostly four-year universities participating.
Ha Jae-beom, a first-year student in the Department of Computer Software, said, “I gained various specialized knowledge about AI and plan to advance further by utilizing AI based on this event.”
Heo Bong-sik, head of the Department of Computer Software, stated, “Since 2023, we have been participating in the Busan Digital Innovation Academy Dev-ton to provide students with diverse experiences and opportunities, and we will continue to offer various opportunities to deepen their experience in IT and AI.”
Established in March 1983, this department has produced numerous talents in the IT field over more than 40 years and aims to educate software development experts in smart IT industry sectors such as web, mobile apps, databases, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and cloud computing.
