On the 2nd, Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province held the 'Final Report Meeting on the Establishment of the Basic Plan for Seosan City Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Service' at the city hall situation room.
This project was prepared to identify problems in the current local transportation system, improve the traffic environment, and apply the nationally promoted Intelligent Transportation System.
The final report meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Hong Soongwang, relevant public officials, and representatives from the service provider, totaling nine participants, who discussed the basic plan for establishing the Intelligent Transportation System.
The plan includes an analysis of local traffic conditions, 17 implementation plans across five areas, phased construction plans, and funding procurement strategies.
The attendees shared strategies for promoting the establishment of the Intelligent Transportation System and discussed areas for improvement.
Based on the results of this final report, the city plans to participate in various national and digital transportation project contests organized by central government agencies to secure external funding, including national funds, in order to improve Seosan City's transportation system.
As next-generation transportation systems utilizing advanced technologies such as autonomous driving are being reviewed and implemented nationwide, the city plans to respond by establishing a scientific and efficient transportation infrastructure in the long term.
In particular, the city has set the improvement of traffic congestion on National Road No. 29 toward Daesan as its top priority and plans to install and operate an adaptive signal system at major intersections on National Road No. 29 by 2025.
Deputy Mayor Hong Soongwang said, "It is urgently necessary to introduce an Intelligent Transportation System to improve Seosan City's transportation system based on this plan," and added, "We will do our best so that citizens can truly feel the changes."
