Up by 746 from last year, Budget Also Increased by 18%
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is recruiting 5,433 participants for the '2025 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project' until the 13th of this month. The number of recruits next year is 746 more than this year's 4,687, and the project budget has also increased by 3.6 billion KRW to 23.6 billion KRW compared to this year.

The number of participants by project type is 3,974 for the Senior Public Interest Activity Project (39 project teams), 996 for the Senior Capacity Utilization Project (13 project teams), and 361 for the Community Project Teams (14 project teams).
The Senior Public Interest Activity involves supporting local environmental maintenance and traffic guidance for elementary school students commuting to and from school, providing up to 290,000 KRW per month for 30 hours of monthly activity. The Senior Capacity Utilization Project supports administrative tasks at public institutions and assistance in childcare centers and local children's centers, providing up to 634,000 KRW per month (excluding weekly holiday allowance) for 60 hours of monthly activity.
The Community Project Teams, which support cafe, store, and convenience store operations, pay activity fees according to the minimum wage standard based on the project activity revenue.
Applicants for the Senior Public Interest Activity Project must be 65 years or older and recipients of the basic pension or occupational pension (meeting criteria set by the Ministry of Health and Welfare). Jobs in the Senior Capacity Utilization Project and Community Project Teams are open to those aged 60 (65 for some projects) and older, and applicants do not need to be basic pension recipients.
Seniors wishing to participate can apply through the job project implementing agencies, and for the Gangseo Silver Volunteer Group, a directly operated project by Gangseo-gu Office, applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center in their residential area. However, recipients of livelihood benefits, workplace health insurance subscribers, long-term care insurance grade assessors, participants in two or more government or local government job projects, and foreign nationals residing in Korea are excluded.
Participants are selected by each implementing agency based on income level, household composition, and activity capability, with those scoring higher being prioritized. Selected individuals will engage in activities for 10 to 12 months per project team.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "I hope that through the Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project, seniors will lead vibrant and healthy lives in their later years," and added, "We will continue to do our best to provide various job opportunities for seniors."
