Gyeonggi Province has urgently provided 7.35 billion KRW from the provincial disaster management fund to 27 cities and counties severely affected by heavy snowfall.
On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that considering the scale of damage and snowfall amounts, it has allocated disaster management funds to a total of 27 cities and counties, including 500 million KRW to Yongin City, 450 million KRW each to Anseong and Hwaseong Cities, and 400 million KRW each to Uiwang, Pyeongtaek, Ansan, and Icheon Cities. Paju, Gimpo, Dongducheon Cities, and Yeoncheon County, which did not experience snow damage, were excluded from this support.
The allocated disaster management funds will be used for rental costs of construction equipment for emergency restoration, fuel expenses, and the purchase of insufficient de-icing agents.
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The most important thing is for those affected by this heavy snowfall to quickly recover their daily lives," and added, "We will support the provincial disaster management fund for rapid emergency restoration, so the cities and counties should mobilize all available resources to restore the damage as quickly as possible."
Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province will continuously monitor the damage survey results and restoration progress for each city and county, and if support is deemed insufficient, it will provide an additional 3 billion KRW in disaster management funds focused on the cities and counties with severe damage.
As of the 1st, Gyeonggi Province is promoting damage restoration by deploying 15,811 snow removal vehicles and other equipment, 42,731 snow removal personnel, and 52,000 tons of de-icing agents.
